1. Viking Inn

Ok, so this place is not a hotel. It’s a motel, but this shouldn’t stop you from considering it. Seeing it’s on the list, you’re going to want to know why. Viking Inn allows pets on request but charges apply.

They allow 1 small dog (25 pounds) or less with a nightly fee. This means no cats. So if you have a cat or other pet other than a dog, then you’ll have to consider a different accommodation.

Rooms are non-smoking. There’s free Wifi and there’s even a garden! How adorable. While there is no swimming pool, all the other positives about this motel make Viking Inn a desirable place to stay. 

Location: Great location in Solvang. It’s walkable to the main town area

Staff: Nice, courteous, friendly and helpful. Entry is keyless

Comfort: Beds are comfortable and the decor is cute

Value: Great value. It is the cheapest hotel on this list, but has great ratings 

Cleanliness: Very clean

2. Wine Valley Inn

This dog friendly inn is also right in the heart of Solvang. Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants, it has a cute small town charm. Rooms can accommodate anywhere from 1 to 5 people. The cottage and suite rooms also have a lovely garden view.

Their pet policy is more flexible than Viking Inn. They allow cats and dogs with a pet fee per stay. Contact the hotel for the current rate. 

Wine Valley Inn prides itself on their free hot breakfast and on-site spa. The Inn also gives access to a Koi pond, fireplaces and a fitness facility. Rooms are non-smoking and they provide free Wifi.

Location: Great location right in the heart of Solvang. It’s walking distance to all the shops and restaurants.

3. Sideways Inn

Technically this Inn is not in Solvang. It’s just outside of Solvang in Buelton. A short 6 min drive gets you to the main area. It may be the case that all the hotels in Solvang are booked or the pricing is too high and it makes more sense to branch further out. Buelton is a great option in this case. 

Sideways Inn is pet friendly. They are allowed on request for a fee. The pet fee is a bit higher than the first two places, but it’s still a good option. Contact Sideways Inn for current rates.

You can expect an outdoor swimming pool, fire pits, free Wifi and a continental breakfast. For a bite to eat, check out Sideways Lounge for casual cocktails, craft beers and of course wine! They also serve bar food like sausages, fries and wings.

Location: Good. It’s a 6 min drive to the main area of Solvang.

Staff: Nice and friendly.

Comfort: Very comfortable accommodations and beds. It can get a bit noisy outside from people walking around and construction so bring some ear plugs if necessary.

Value: Good value for the money.

Cleanliness: Very clean.

Parking: Free on-site parking. They also have electric vehicle charging stations. 

4. Solvang Inn & Cottages

Solvang Inn & Cottages is located in Solvang. Pets are allowed on request and there is a fee per dog. They allow up to two dogs in a room. Dogs are not allowed to be left alone in the room at any time. 

You can either stay in a guest room or a cottage. Guest rooms are like regular hotel rooms while cottages have a living area and a kitchenette. They have a bit more room than guest rooms. 

This popular place to stay for visitors has a spa and wellness center, a garden, an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub. Rooms are non-smoking and they offer free Wifi. 

Maybe one of the best parts about staying here is the included breakfast. Just next door you can have breakfast at the Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery where they serve coffee, tea and Danish style pastries. It’s been around since 1970 so you know they’re doing something right!

The last place on this list is Vinland Hotel and Lounge. This hotel has a more modern look from the rooms and the lobby. Pets are allowed with a fee. This includes dogs and cats. Just don’t leave your pet unattended in the room. 

The hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub. The rooms have free Wifi and they are all non-smoking. Some rooms have a balcony or a city view.  

While they don’t offer breakfast, there are many places in the surrounding area that offer breakfast.

Of course, it’s important to contact the hotel ahead of time to verify the fee and become aware of any other policies they might have regarding pets such as pet types and sizes.
